The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

This year, the greatest gift I’m giving myself is staying HOME for a few weeks! But, even though I’m looking forward to being home, I am already looking back on 2011 as the amazing year of travel. I thought it might be fun to list out all the travel days I had in 2011.  I don’t own, and don’t think I ever WILL own an RV, so these are all trips that I flew to:

January 2011

  • Florida – 5 days

February 2011

  • Illinois – 2 days
  • Texas – 3 days

March 2011

  • California – 4 days
  • UK – 6 days
  • Colombia – 10 days
  • Virginia – 6 days

April 2011

  • Michigan – 2 days

May 2011

  • Minnesota – 4 days
  • Australia – 4 days

June 2011

  • Kentucky – 3 days

July 2011

  • Montreal, Canada – 3 days
  • Germany/Austria – 7 days

August 2011

  • California – 3 days
  • California – 3 days
  • Hawaii – 5 days

September 2011

  • France – 2 weeks

October 2011

  • Kentucky – 6 days
  • California – 3 days

November 2011

  • Minnesota – 3 days
  • Utah – 3 days
  • Las Vegas – 2 days

December 2011

  • California – 3 days

Well, when you look at that list, that’s not so bad, really – I should have been able to squeeze more in there! 🙂 Of course, there were other trips sprinkled in there that were driving trips, but there were only 3-4 of those.

I’m looking forward to my 2012 trips – I do love the travel, even though it takes a lot of energy.  I love meeting new people and reconnecting with students I’ve worked with previously, and I do think it’s much more cost effective for me to go to them than the other way around. This year I’m already planning a couple of International trips – if you’ve made it this far in my post, I’ll make it official and say that I’m going to Sweden, to teach, attend one last Chicken Camp, and, if I’m lucky, compete in the European Open. And….in March….CHILE!!!! Yep, that’s right, I’m going to head to the 2012 Americas and Caribbean again.  Can’t wait!
