Running Contacts, cont’d
The running contacts don’t get much airtime on my blog, even though they are still one of the most fun parts of my training with my dogs (Solar and Juno). I shouldn’t say that just the running contacts are fun, to be honest, just doing the DOGWALK is fun. I have no idea why I’m so in love with that obstacle, that ONE obstacle, but it’s just so darned much fun, even doing the 2O/2O with Jester.
I’ve been woefully neglectful documenting Juno’s dogwalk, but I will say, that in many respects, it’s BETTER than Solar’s dogwalk, which is to be expected (or at least hoped for), since I already had experience with the process when training her. I worked on turns earlier with her than I did with Solar, which is to say that really what I worked with on her was the idea of continuing on and finishing the dogwalk even in the presence of turning cues. Solar’s training has benefited from my experiments with Juno as well.
I’ve got some exciting new projects coming up soon that will help me reach out to more students on a more regular basis, but for now, here’s something fun:
