Solar was born in June of 2007, and is an amazing dog, truly a Super Sun in my life.
In June of 2009, just two short weeks after Solar‘s 2nd birthday, he won the USDAA NW Regional Championships, earning the title of Regional Champion. He also won the Steeplechase at the Regional Championships! He won several local Grand Prix and Steeplechase Qualifiers and qualified for the 2010 AKC National Championships as well as the 2010 AKC World Team Tryouts.
In November of 2009, not yet 2.5 year old Solar went to his first USDAA National Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona (his first National event in any venue). He placed first in Team Standard, first in European Jumpers, second in the Grand Prix Semifinals, made the Steeplechase and Grand Prix Finals, and won the Grand Prix National Championship, all at 26″!
In March of 2010, not yet 3 year old Solar went to his first AKC National Championships in Tulsa, OK. He placed 1st in ISC STD and JWW, winning the ISC High Combined award at 26″. He then placed 1st in round 1, and 4th in round 3, and qualified in ALL rounds leading up to the Finals, made the Finals, and WON the 2010 AKC National Agility Championship at 26″!

Solar’s successes have continued! In May of 2010, he was chosen to be a member of the USA AKC World Agility Team, to compete in the fall of 2010 in Germany at the World Championships. Solar’s running contacts continue to amaze, and my efforts to stay a step ahead continue to entertain! Although I am very excited about his development as an agility dog, his sweet temperament, easygoing attitude, and endless capacity for snuggling make him #1 in my book.
Solar is a very happy dog, and is quite the thinker as well. He loves
doing lots of tricks, and at the end of the day, whether he’s had a run around the park or not, he is happy to snuggle up next to me in bed. His daddy is Linda Mecklenburg’s Stellar, and Solar’s registered name is “Super Sun”, a sort of play on words. Solar is proving to be an amazing agility dog, and also enjoys a bit of herding now and then.
He truly is a super son, and is a bright spot in my life.
